Guest
Does anyone have any fun activities for oral blending and segmenting (Phase 1)? I have covered Letters and Sounds and am looking for something different. Thank you!
AnonyMouse_4562
Hi, We have recently been playing cvc bingo with the children - they have the pictures, we say the sounds of the words on the cards, they blend them and say if they have a match. We have also done a similar activity with cvc dominoes. These activities also reinforce phoneme-grapheme correspondence for those that are ready. Mine also love talking to the puppet in toy-speak. Will keep thinking Green Hippo x
AnonyMouse_79
Oral blending and segmenting is one of the most difficult skills the children have to learn, plenty of robot talk will help and any other games or variations as suggested in Letters and Sounds phase 1. Just because the children arent there doesnt neccessarily mean you need something different, more of the same and daily will help develop that skill.
