AnonyMouse_2821 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Hi after some comments on our questionnaire we are trying to put together a sheet/booklet on how parents can support their children at home I.e. in Maths counting the steps up to bed, recognising numbers on a walk etc. Really just some practical ideas within each area of learning. I looked at the DFE one but wanted more ideas. I have tried a search but didn't come up with anything. Thank you in advance
AnonyMouse_33773 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 As many parents are eager teach their child to read and write, but don't know how, we try to prevent later necessary un-learning by giving them some guidance. Extract from our Parents Handbook attached. Any critical views on the content would be appreciated! Literacy guidance to parents.pdf
AnonyMouse_33773 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Also in our Parents Handbook. This is some of what we believe is important to nurture young children’s development: Providing a calm and emotionally warm environment, and simple resources which your child can use creatively.Allowing him/her uninterrupted time to explore and be imaginative. Sharing books, music, nature and chores inthe house. Making pens and paper available to make marks and drawings. Avoiding over-stimulation throughscreen-based entertainment.
