AnonyMouse_4869
Hi, my school want to develop parent workshops. I've decided to do something around story sacks, hopefully asking parents to make them for particular stories. My cohort has lower communication and language and PSED so thought this would be a good way to engage parents and develop attention and listening and C & L. I want the parents to feel that making these is achievable but I have no idea how to even start, even with setting the right tone for asking parents to come. Has anyone done this before or something similar, any tips?
AnonyMouse_9650
It is worth checking out the Elizabeth Jarman newsletters - the one for July/August 2011 has a good "Books for Breakfast" article which was about parental involvement on page 4 The link for this one is here http://www.elizabethjarmantraining.co.uk/images/stories/PDFs/ELIZABETH_JARMAN_July_August_2011_Newsletter_v2.pdf The link to the archive is here http://www.elizabethjarmantraining.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=53&Itemid=29
SueFinanceManager
Hi Lucie In the articles area > Activity Support here there are some great article about using books as a starting point for activities. Maybe if the parents understood all the aspects of learning that can be gained form one book this might help them draw together lots of different elements in a story sack. Just an idea
