Guest Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Hi all, Does anybody have any ideas what to put in a maths area regarding real objects please? In a reception class. Thanks
AnonyMouse_2157 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 we have a range of things including conkers, shells, small logs and wood discs for counting, a range of ribbons of different lengths for measuring, sand timers, egg timers, digital timers, clocks, etc a set of weighing scales, socks for sorting into pairs...is this the sort of thing you meant by 'real' objects? To be honest we try to steer clear of the usual compare bears & other such edu catalogue resources. 1
AnonyMouse_19733 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 plastic drink bottles filled with stones, sand, water, feathers, leaves etc heavy/light contents 1
AnonyMouse_21338 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 we use the mini rice krispie / cocoa pops /cornflake boxes from the multipacks - usually have 3 the same, each of them weigh different -a light , a medium and a heavy one. They all look the same -but feel and weigh different . 1
