AnonyMouse_49556 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Been told by tutor I need to provide more 'real experiences' for following topic on farm (crops/animals/famer/farm life). Any planning/ideas greatfully recieved or sites useful.
AnonyMouse_43750 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 In the Resources section there is a section on The Farm which might help. :1b
AnonyMouse_49556 Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Yes thanks have used that for planning - but still comment on 'real experiences' by PGCE tutor so bit worried as don't want to fail.
AnonyMouse_13789 Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 A trip to the farm! Identifying which foods come from which animal...tasting some/cooking with them
Guest Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Baking bread using flour that has been ground from wheat grown on the farm Growing your own crops outside, making a scarecrow Edited February 9, 2014 by Suer
AnonyMouse_11396 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Not sure if this is possible for you but we either went up to one of the local farms, or on occasions the lambs were brought down to visit us at our setting. Have you thought about egg hatching kits, making butter, bread, milk shakes, fruit smoothies, We recently set up a farmers market in our role play area using real vegetables and fruit. The children pretended to purchase them and then brought them to the processing area, where they were washed, chopped, sliced and ate them for snack. Lots of learning opportunities with this. 1
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 We put straw, soil, sawdust in a tuff spot with farm set rather than farm mat.
SueFinanceManager Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Loads of clips here from the BBC education...in the science section there are clips about plant growth amongst lots of other stuff
