AnonyMouse_35605
Every year one or two teachers leave our local primary (we are in the grounds) and very few of them ever seem to go on to another school. The majority seem to be making a change of direction to do something completely different. Our Reception class has now lost both its teachers in two years and one of the very experienced TA's as well. To be honest, sometimes changes are really positive, but some very good teachers have decided that education is not for them anymore, sadly. AnonyMouse_8466
I can well understand why so many good teachers are deciding that education is not the place for them - the workload, the stress and the responsibility. The salary might look good on paper, however when all the hours are added up, it isn't so attractive. There is no compensation available for the hours lost to planning, preparation and preoccupation that seem to characterise the teacher's lot these days. Added to all of this the continual undermining of morale, and despair at what the Government might do next. How sad.
