AnonyMouse_468
We'll be making little diva lamps for Diwali again this year. We use salt dough (half weight of salt to flour). Give the children a small ball of dough (bit larger than golf ball size) and show them how to make a thumb pot. Squeeze one side of the pot to make a sort of spout shape. The pots are then baked in the oven until they are hard. They can then be painted and decorated with sequins or glitter and then given a final coat of pva or varnish to make them shiny. Then add a small night light candle. These candle holders also make good Christmas presents and can be done with clay also.

AnonyMouse_2157
you could use paper doilies for rangoli patterns.... use them like a stencil and print into them... lft off and hey presto
Guest
I was going to suggest Rangoli patterns too as they are symmetrical.. For CLL could you work on the stories e.g. Rama and Sita? One year we made stick puppets nad retold the story. Or describing texture - how about coloured sand to make symmetrical patterns in and ask them to describe their pattern (like ink blots!)
