AnonyMouse_832
Not quite sure where to post this? We are a maintained Nursery school and we are considering different session times for September 2014 and wondering whether to go for earlier starts/longer days to accommodate working parents so maybe stating at 8.00am or staying open later. I wonder if anyone is considering this too or already doing something more flexible than the normal 9.00am to 3.00pm type times? Any ideas or comments gratefully received.
AnonyMouse_3307
Are you 2 sessions a day or all full time? Most nursery staff I know have aligned the end of the school day (typically half 3) so staff are free for meetings etc. as the same time as everyone else. They start earlier than school and do often 8.45 - 11.45 and then the afternoon session is 12.30 -3.30. The 15 hours does mean nursery teachers do the most contact time compared to their colleagues in the same school, same pay & conditions of service etc etc! Guest
We (nursery) do 9-12 and 12-3 but we have a breakfast club that opens at 7.45 and an Afterschool club open until 5.30 Some of the nursery children access the times before and after nursery times.... Many of our parents don't work though and so most only do the contracted free 15 hours.
