So, I arrive at the big 40 next week, now birthdays have never bothered me before, but I am freaking out about this one!! :o:o

I was just wondering if I met my younger self, what piece of advice would I give?

  1. Travel and see the world. I got very close to travelling around Canada in my late teens, but on the day we were going to book tickets my travelling companion got a late acceptance at university. Two months later I met my husband, which has led to two wonderful children. (They say things happen for a reason.)
  2. Do not worry so much about what other people think of you and the things you do. Feel that I am starting to worry less what people think of me and am starting to be able to stand up for myself now. (Shame it's taken 40 years)
  3. Stay slim!! (It's easier to stay slim than it is too lose the weight)

So what would you say to your younger self if you met them??

zigzag - remember turning 40 - feels like a really big deal doesn't it - 39 sounds so much better than 40  but honestly once the big day has come and gone it's OK........

Wish my next birthday (which is also a 'big one' :o ) was only 40 :D

Sure that I would have done lots differently given my time again - but for the most part I believe in only looking forward :1b

Hope you have a brilliant birthday - filled with your special people and all the things that you enjoy! :1b x

Have a very happy birthday! Are you doing anything different to mark the day?

Me turning 40 was a bigger deal for other people than for me. I vividly remember hating being 28 although I have no idea why! As for advice to my younger self - I'm not sure I'm any further on. The same things still worry and upset me and I don't listen to my own (very sensible) advice now! I haven't even changed that much physically apart from a few more grey hairs although they are generally only visible to people taller than me - another good reason to work in Early Years!

Happy birthday - hope you celebrate well, and that your post-40 life is happy and fulfilling. :1b

My advice to my younger self would be:-

- don't be so hard on yourself

- remember that you are not solely responsible for keeping the world spinning on its axis, and the sky from falling in

Well here it is the day I have been dreading, the big 40. Had a lovely bunch of wild flowers from one of the children and they had also decorated a big banner for me. My team bought me a beautiful necklace which was so kind of them. Off for a birthday meal now. And tomorrow is another day!! So not much different from being 39 really. So why was I so bothered by it?

I missed your birthday too. Hope it was fabulous. :D:D

I'll be 50 later this year but it seems I'm talking about a different person when I say it. I cant possibly be THAT old! It will be my last birthday though. I'll be 47 afterwards for as many years I can get away with it until my mind catches up. Inside I still feel 12 or so xD

Something to tell my younger self 'we had a great time, do it again' xD

Sending belated birthday wishes and hope you had a wonderful day. My life began at 40 - I gave up the job I hated and became a childminder and eventually owning my own nursery. 50 this year - what major changes will I make for the next decade? I wonder?
