AnonyMouse_8466 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 My friend has just posted this picture on her facebook page, asking if anyone knows who he is. We both think he may be an actor because his face looks familiar but we need a name. This photo is at least 35 years old, and apparently this chap is photographed with my friend's grandpa. However, there is no-one in the family who can answer the question. So I guess I'm hoping for someone of a 'certain age' to come to our rescue! Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Sorry - were you calling me? I am definitely 'of a 'certain age' but nope can't help you - never seen him before in my life! 1 Quote

AnonyMouse_19782 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 So we don't know that this man IS-an actor, just Maz's feeling it may be. Does your friend think it highly possible because of her grandad 's background? He may be an old pal from the war, work colleague, long lost relative of some kind I have someone in mind I'm going to see if there is a photo of him from the 70's or 80's. Do we know where the photo was taken? At home or in a tv studio, if grandad was on a game show or something? 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 No not him thought it may have been Stanley Unwin Quote
AnonyMouse_30128 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 What do you think ...any good??? 1 Quote
Guest sn0wdr0p Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 He has the look of a young Bob Monkhouse. He does look familiar and I have convinced myself he is an actor but a google images search has got me nowhere. It's really niggling me now and I am wasting time on this rather than planting up my new herb garden. He looks like he is one of the rat pack doesn't he and should be hanging around with Sinatra. AnonyMouse_30128 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 rounded ears/hook nose /one thin one thick eyebrow/high receding hairline on left side/thin lips....seemed quite a good match and is the right era. Quote

AnonyMouse_11396 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 No don't think it's him, but this is better than a quiz. Can you give us anymore details, what makes you think he is an actor, if yes is he likely to be a British one or an American. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Hmmmm, er, but it's not is it? Definitely not the lovely William Holden Quote
Guest sn0wdr0p Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Flippin eck didn't realise you actually had the answer. Quote
AnonyMouse_8466 Posted April 24, 2014 Author Posted April 24, 2014 We don't have an answer, sn0wdr0p. I wouldn't be that cruel! The picture seems to be taken at some kind of dinner - we're thinking maybe the mystery man was a guest speaker, or was presenting awards. He's shaking hands with my friend's Granddad, and she says the photo seems to be featuring the man as the main focus - as if he's the most important part of the photo. Not sure if he's American or English (but I think he looks English myself) and there is a similar photograph of the Granddad which has 1972 on the back. This reminds me of a weekend long ago on a school trip (pre-Google) when we spent the whole time trying to remember who played Fagin in Oliver. It drove us mad and its funny that it is almost the only thing I remember of the whole weekend. Sorry if I've done that to you. 1 Quote
SueFinanceManager Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Is this him George SandersActor who played Simon Templar, alias The Saint, in the Movies Quote
Guest Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 reminds me a little of a young Harry Corbett (Steptoe's son) but it's not cos his nose isn't as 'prominent' shall we say...can't find a Google image with that angle for comparison! ooo I want to know!!! Quote
AnonyMouse_3139 Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 I'd say not  Maz, have you tried twitter? Quote
