AnonyMouse_35577 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I am in the process of revising our learning journals which are based on the development matters statements. I would like to know - are there any bits that you clever people think are missing from ANY area of learning, and, which age group you think they should go in For example stands independently would go in 8-20 months Thanks in anticipation of help
AnonyMouse_33773 Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 We have created our own wording to many statements, and probably added a few. An example of rewording or adding (don't know which): 'Is independent when other children do not cooperate with the group' - an important one! Under characteristics we have separated confidently meeting and persevering with physical challenges / problem solving from doing this with cognitive ones.
AnonyMouse_44476 Posted July 5, 2014 Posted July 5, 2014 The ability to name colours, 22-36 always amazes me that it's not in there!
AnonyMouse_5664 Posted July 6, 2014 Posted July 6, 2014 I agree that there are some things missing. eg in numeracy in 30-50, its all about shape!!! No number recognition till 40-60. nothing on size, sorting, measuring...... And writing....well, hardly anything, is there.
