AnonyMouse_35577
Does anyone have any idea where I can access a short video of children engaging in this play?

AnonyMouse_8282
It's a posh name for playing with junk! You know all those little odds scraps of things lying around- boxes, bits of rope etc. I can't do a link - but I think you should be able to google it and come up with something. Our LA has put something about it on there early years website. Xxx

AnonyMouse_8282
Thank you louby loo - is that the same as collage and junk modelling, then?! No - much bigger scale, more about using imagination and actually playing with the resources. I'm stuck with using the iPad for this forum- otherwise I'd try and do some links. (Lappy doesn't like this forum for some reason- maybe it's trying to tell to stop thinking about work!) :-) :-)
Guest
Ah, right - thanks for the link finleysmaid; I think this concept needs to be re-named - 'Loose Parts Play' sounds ridiculous ... ... in my humble opinion!
AnonyMouse_12805
Totally agree Devonsmaid- I was thinking it was perhaps things like a Lego castle or train track similar- things that went together but also had 'loose parts'. In fact the more I think about it the more ridiculous I think it is Edited July 30, 2014 by lynned55

AnonyMouse_51737
I love loose parts! one of my many passions, I have so many loose parts around our pre school and box's of random things! try googling in you tube 'play pods' sometimes 'scrapstore play pods' this is the new name for it as it was branched out into school play grounds i believe.
