AnonyMouse_2821 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 could anyone recommend any good sites or books about two year olds. With more twos entering our setting I am concerned about what we are providing, the expectations of staff for two year olds and the routine of the day. Could anyone recommend any websites or books I could read, or recommend/share any thing from their setting. The twos room is relatively new and I worry that as our inspection is due we need to look at what we are providing and how we are supporting them. Thanks in advance
AnonyMouse_31531 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 'I am two! - working effectively with two year olds and their families' by Kay Mathieson is a good read. It's well set out and easy to absorb with case studies reflecting on practice. 1
AnonyMouse_37203 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Hi I was just checking out community playthings website on another thread and found this http://www.communityplaythings.co.uk/learning-library/training-resources/a-good-place-to-be-two Haven't read it all yet but looks good. Marsha 1
AnonyMouse_73 Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 Great minds Marsha, as that was going to be my recommendation too. You can ask for a copy of the booklet 'a good place to be two' as well as download it. 1
Guest Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 That booklet is brilliant. I've just done training that was arranged by our local authority on 2 year olds, run by Nancy Stewart and Helen Moylett, and that was given to us as a resource. It might be worth googling county councils resources too. Our EYC has let us borrow a folder on being prepared for 2 year olds which I think is from Chesterfield.
