AnonyMouse_48339
Hi everyone I currently work in a pack away setting based in a church hall. The church hall has over the 6 weeks holidays been completely repainted and the church do not want us to put up any displays at all. This makes me really sad as I love displays and doing them with the children. We're thinking about doing posters which can be taken down at the end of each session with childrens work on and photographs etc. Does anyone else have any other ideas to how we can show childrens work without using displays? We're thinking about doing some eyfs folders, one for each area of the EYFS including everything to do with it and childrens work, example activities, photographs etc... Any other ideas would be so helpful !! And any other pack away settings that can share my pain please reply haha Thankyou!
AnonyMouse_9650
We are very lucky in our hall and have two display boards but we have also persuaded the church to let us put some wooden battens on the wall which were then painted the same colour. We then use strong white velcro to put up posters and displays which are then easily taken down when they want a "naked hall". We also use string "washing lines" and whilst these are above head height we can display things on these too and again take them down when a "naked" hall is needed.

AnonyMouse_29664
This is a pain isn't it - we were in a hall with similar problem. Are you allowed to put hooks into the wall or Velcro? We were allowed a couple of hooks which we used to hang fibre boards on for displays of children's work. You can also get corruflex sheets which are very lightweight and comes with clips so you can make them stand in a sort of zig zag display. I saw something the other day on Dragons den that is a removable pad which will hold mirrors onto walls. Apparently this product is used a lot in the States - l Googled it and Amazon sells something called Commando strips that might work. Hope this helps. Guest
What about a stand alone display board? Then you can fold it up and put it away when you're finished.
AnonyMouse_66453
What about a stand alone display board? Then you can fold it up and put it away when you're finished. HI all, yes we also use stand alone boards which are easy to pack away by just removing the base legs. They are very sturdy. Its a shame that your church isn't more giving to your setting. I know our church see us as the main source of their rental income so we are lucky to be given alot of wall space in the hall. However our issue is about displays that are interactive for the children and at their height, so we display things on the fold away dividers. We do use photo albums, scrap books and my fravouirite the electronic photo frame to display our activities to parents. This is all in the front foyer. Another idea is to display small pieces of work on the trolleys that hold the boxes (if that makes sense). My colleague had the idea to make a sun shade from a sheet but the children decorated it with hand prints, drawings and writing (fabric pens and paints). It became our our door display, strung up using elastic rope. This summer she also organised a bunting display with drawings the children made, it would go up in the hall or outside. I know it must be tricky but once you start thinking creativity I'm sure your setting will look great for your children, parents and staff. Good luck
AnonyMouse_19762
In the days when our LA had some spare money........seems like a distant memory now........they provided all settings with a large digital photo thingy (can't think what they are called - frame maybe)........anyway set to slideshow that is very effective - parents, visitors and the children all enjoy watching that..... Trying to picture these Silvermist - don't suppose you have a photo? We also struggle with this we use the fold away cardboard type display boards are good, but they do get tatty very quickly when you are packing away everyday. AnonyMouse_3139
We're going back to a newly decorated hall too, before we broke up we were told blutac won't be allowed either! We've got radiator covered that staff decorated in a variety of ways, 2 have pegs sewn on so we can attach work but nothing stays longer than 3 hours
AnonyMouse_22106
before we broke up we were told blutac won't be allowed either! Snap! we aren't allowed blutac either - to be fair it does mark the walls. I always make sure that I report any marks to hall committee after the weekend hirers have been in to our hall, as you can guarantee any marks or breakages would automatically be our fault if I didn't! Thoroughly agree with Sunnyday's post about having an interactive display - We too had a digital photo frame BUT a friendly photographer suggested that we buy a TV with a built in DVD and then convert photos to a DVD using Windows DVD maker and play them on the TV - it saved ages in time (uploading loads to a digital photo frame took forever)and meant that we could have a larger screen as DVD TVs cost shedloads less than digital photo frames.

AnonyMouse_31531
http://www.tts-group.co.uk/_rmvirtual/media/tts/images/AR01324_large.jpg I hope that this link works but here is an example of foldaway cardboard presentation boards. I have used them and they lasted well plus if you stand them on the floor they are child height and can be used to divide areas.
AnonyMouse_3139
We had similar boards, they were bigger and had windows but like yours ours lasted really well considering they were only cardboard. Big boxes can do the same thing, ask your families
Guest
We use large cork boards hooked onto our radiators by s shape hooks, these are child height and great fun I too have large boards on the wall and do use these but would not do away with my lower down displays We also have smaller cork boards on which we have sharing boards, number lines posters etc These can be easily stored away

AnonyMouse_66453
Hello ThumperRabit I haven't got a photo but I found this online which looks similar. http://www.hope-education.co.uk/product/Freestanding-Junior-Partitions-Blue-HE1130464A The one we use has removable metal legs that slide on or off. We use Velcro to display words, numbers and pictures then the children add to the board using masking tape. We also use something like this to display posters or photos for the children as its at their eye level when playing on the floor. http://earlyyearseducational.com/coloured-classroom-dividers/4573891300 With more expensive equipment like these, it does take us a fund raising event before we can shop!! Good luck with your ideas. We have decided on a big wipe board on wheels which will be our new purchase for September.
AnonyMouse_43045
We use room dividers too which are just at the right height for the children , We also use lots of cork notice boards around the Hall to display pictures of the children . Large pieces of cardboard are good too and Velcro has been a God send . also light plastic poles with string that can be attached to window handles that hang down . Here is an example off it i used outside ,(not sure if you can see it? Washing lines are great too we used the poles + Gazebo weights (filled with water/sand) . Hope this helps
AnonyMouse_4495
We are in a similar situation - newly decorated hall and we have one high level display (fat lot of good that is for the children to interact with!) And a space that is above the (lagged) central heating pipes that causes the paper to curl! We have a 'celebration book' (scrapbook) that we put photographs in of all the activities we do with small descriptions and not overloading with EYFS jargon. This is completed every half term and then goes on display in the entrance vestibule for parents to look at. I like the idea of the digital photo frame - I'm sure I've got one we don't use that I could donate!
