AnonyMouse_22106 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Does anyone have the Statutory Framework 2014 as a Word Document? I would like to be able to copy & paste some elements of it and can't don't that with a PDF version - or can I??
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Um I don't know, SueJ gave advise on another thread about saving PDF files then using Adobe reader, but not sure if it lets you copy/paste, I'd like section 5 of SEN code of practice for staff, so will have a play......unless some kind person has already managed it
AnonyMouse_9650 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I save the pdf and then once saved open it in Adobe - you can then highlight chunks of text and paste as text into a word document. 1

Sue, how do you select the text that you want to copy? I have opened my PDF version in 'Adobe Reader XI' but don't seem to be able to select any text
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) There's quite a lot of help if you google how to copy/paste text from PDF files using adobe x , no idea how to paste a link here using ipad though....so there's probably no hope for PDF file http://tv.adobe.com/watch/acrobat-x-tips-tricks/quick-tip-how-to-cut-and-paste-text-from-a-pdf-file/ No idea if this works Edited August 23, 2014 by Mouseketeer 1
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Highlight the block you want by putting your cursor at the start, click and hold and drag your cursor to the end of what you want. Now press CTRL C to copy it. Go to your word document and press CTRL V to paste it. You may need to do some jigging about of line ends etc and look for things that have slipped in like page numbers. I generally do this with the adobe file open on half the screen with the word document on the other half, so I can see what it should look like.

I just keep getting a little hand and it won't let me highlight anything. 1
AnonyMouse_22106 Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 No I'm the same - a little hand and it won't let me highlight. Wonder if we have a different version of Adobe? I'm just going to have a look at the link that Mouseketeer has given the link for

And also to copy & paste Right click on the document and select 'Select Tool' and this then gives you the option to select text and then as Cait said you can Ctrl C and Ctrl V into a word document. AnonyMouse_9650 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 As Cait has said you need to put your cursor where you want to start copying. I prefer to use the mouse buttons rather than Control C and V but it's a personal preference. To use the mouse buttons I hold down the left button and drag the cursor to the end of the block that I want to copy. Once highlighted release the left mouse button and move the cursor so that it is sitting anywhere within the highlighted block. I then click the right mouse button and select the copy option. Once that is done I move to my word document and position the cursor where I want the text to go and just select paste or if I just want straightforward text select the paste keep text only (the button with A on it). 1
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It's all gone well except, copied/pasted to word doc, can move tabs, but some pages won't let me move the text up to meet text on previous page, so I kind of only have text mostly on top half of each page, it's do with the PDF page breaks but can't figure a way out of it.....any ideas ?
AnonyMouse_19733 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Would it be easier to convert the whole PDF document to a word document and then do the cutting and pasting? Just a thought
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It would be, but when I tried to just convert to word doc it asks me to sign up to a paid account ? Maybe I missed something ?
AnonyMouse_19733 Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I think there are some free conversion sites Mouseketeer 1
