for all of us that are term time only the end of the holidays are fast approaching - just wondered whether

you did all the jobs you said you would :D

what jobs you still HAVE to do

you are looking forward to going back

the weather is now wet and cold so at the moment going back doesn't seem such a bad idea lol xD

Still loads of things to do including getting changes done to SEF and SEN stuff and fielding panicky phone calls which are now starting up from parents looking for spaces or forgetting what they have booked in for starting in September !!!

More 'not done' than done if I'm honest.

I have my reasons though..... but to be honest I am going into slight panic mode

When we go back we are quiet on two afternoons - my plan is to do all my 'to do' things then.... and therefore getting paid whilst doing it! :o

If it makes you feel any better I haven't...

responded to a behaviour document (but it was sent after the holidays had started)

written my parents newsletter

done my RE MTP (but that's only because someone else hasn't sent out the new curriculum map yet)

written 5 action plans for different areas

done a SIAMS review

gone through and reviewed progress towards our anti-bullying award

made various classroom resources

re-thought my classroom layout (my mind was a blank then I decided I really needed to see how the new cohort used it before changing anything)

plus about 20 other things!

But, it is the holidays, I've been really busy doing work on the house or getting it ready so other people can work on it (plasterers arrive tomorrow!) and I am not going to feel guilty! I will probably regret it once school starts again and there doesn't seem to be time to breathe but I know it will get done because it will have to!

Well no prize for guessing that my "not yet even touched" project is (drum roll please.....) THE SEF!!!!!!

I have forced myself to finish off the SEN stuff tonight..phew..

So far I have achieved quite a lot, but it would appear that a managers job is never, ever done.

Have to say I hit the ground running for the first week of the holidays and got a lot done at school. Sadly in the second week my mum in law passed away, and things kind of ground to a stop. Found I could not really concentrate and kind of lost enthusiasm for a while in all things school. Trying really hard to get back to it now. Am dreading going back and that is not like me at all. My deputy has retired after fourteen years, my qualified assistant has got another job, which leaves only two of us who are qualified and two unqualified staff. We will run every morning with three staff so we fit the ratio's but if one of us qualified is ill, we will have to close. The girl who is taking on the deputy position is not really ready for it but there was nothing else we could do. Oh and on top of that I now have to take on the SENCO role which I have no experience of and am dreading.

Feeling quite demoralised and swamped already and to top it all my sef is still sitting next to my computer waiting to be updated.

Zigzag so sorry to hear of your loss - I hope when you actually start back you begin to feel a bit better about things - insofar as the SENCO stuff is concerned there are loads of knowledgeable people on here and we are all "starting from new" with the new code of practice too.

If it helps my SEF is still waiting patiently for me to pander to it and I have no doubt that Sunnyday's is at the very bottom of her to do list xD

This sounds really frivolous but, as one of the main characters in a popular hospital drama said on Saturday, when did this stop being part of my life and become my life...I'm really enjoying getting on top of things for my new age group and new room but I have to rely on my family to remind me that there is life beyond it all.

Correction - my SEF update has been moved to a whole new list - this list is entitled 'my will never get done list' - seems to help having one of those lists running alongside my 'to do' list xDxDxD

So sorry to hear of your loss zigzag. Fx

I'm with you on that one Sunnyday, no SEF amended here either.

But I have reached the point where I get done well what I need to, and the rest can wait.( well at least for a short while). :)

The most important thing for me is to welcome all our families to pre-school and play, play, play. :)

Sunnyday - I'm liking the sound of this special list, what else do you recommend gets added to it? :D

No wish to add anything to anyone's list but feel the need to ask if anyone has looked at changes to the Statutory Framework yet - some real bizarre changes I think, but I may be fooling myself!

Ooh - like what? Only glanced through and looked mainly at the list of changes that (Sue?) did.

It was some of the 'removals' that made me think 'really', like no requirement to have or implement behaviour management policy, yet I read a report this morning that requires improvement because staff are not consistent in how they manage behaviour, I know it's not sept yet but that's really not going to help is it ? or no requirement to carry out regular staff appraisals ? ...must have a re-read

Exactly Mouseketeer, a bit weird!

To be honest - I kind of think that they are removed but inlcuded elsewhere!! Appraisals aren't mentioned but supporting staff development, training, etc, etc is which leads me straight back to supervisions/apprasials!!! Drives me more than a little crazy!!

Enjoy :-)

And- if it makes you feel better, my SEF is still untouched in the bag that its been in since the summer half term!!!

And, strangely enough I'm actuall not really that bothered anymore a) Life's to short. I'm on Fredbears wavelength- but then again I 'think' her (or him!!!) setting may be quite near me- so perhaps it's in the water round here!!!!

That a) was supposed to be b). .... Which is the only smilie I can do now :-) xxx
