AnonyMouse_44476
Has anyone got a good recipe for bubble mixture? None of the ones I have tried have worked very well and we get through so much it would be a lot easier and cheaper to make ourselves!
AnonyMouse_44476
Sorry I meant to put this in the resources bit not sure quite how I managed to put it in here!
AnonyMouse_19782
Sorry we have the same problem as you. I even tried the recipe from the Science Museum and that didn't work either. Somehow glycerine needs to give it some structure, but we have never managed it. We do use fairy washing up liquid and water in a washing up bowl and large bubble wands and have reasonable success on a cool damp day, other than that I shop around for the usual bubble mix and buy it when it's on offer. Bought quite a lot from a store called Twenty One the other day, but have a feeling those stores are closing down, I also buy it from Tescos they quite often reduce it and even ELC do occasionally, a does ASDA and ToysRus Edited September 26, 2014 by Panders
Guest
I refilled our large bubble wands with baby bath and a small amount of water. It was trial and error (eg we ran out of bubbles and I went "screw it" and threw them in the tube haha) but I find it works.
AnonyMouse_39998
I have had no sucess with home made mixture either....the tesco one in the large bottle is quite good but it fails as soon as it gets too throthy, someone brought in a really good one from asda but it was quite expensive, gave it ( in a smaller pot) to a small group and they spilt it lol so I need a really good mixture and extra no spill pots lol

AnonyMouse_19920
hi finsleymaid - what is dish soap please? we often use the 99p shop for our bubbles - not bad value but would love to try the recipe above
AnonyMouse_64
I presume it's washing up liquid.
AnonyMouse_19782
I presume it's washing up liquid. Well i thought a bar of soap that goes in a soap dish, but a pure soap - maybe like baby soap, I found some liquid soap to make slime with rather than soap flakes which were difficult to get hold of, haven't used it yet though. AnonyMouse_3735
Poundland had loads, large bottles or packs of 9 small ones...it was still in ours this week... Dish soap is an american term for washing up liquid.. when doing these they tend to recommend 'Dawn' which is here is usually Fairy the one to use in those recipes. Of course the cost of that could be more than buying from a cheap shop . For spilling bubbles I saw a lovely picture of a solution to that being to attach the bottlers to a solid object with ties and they use it from there.. cannot find it now.. but it was a support post to a shelter with 4 bottles one on each side. . could attach them to a fence or any solid structure. AnonyMouse_8282
I read somewhere to leave the glycerine mixture for at least a week or more before using, we did this and had a reasonable success at the end of summer 13, (last day we used hula hoops and tuffs spots etc). Packed leftover bottles away in a rush (shoved in the back of kitchen cupboard) - and totally forgot about it. Found it again this summer and the results were fantastic.
