AnonyMouse_49971
HI, we are holding an open morning next week for our current parent's, to enable them to see what happens in the classroom. Has anyone done one before or have any good ideas? I am looking forward to it, just wanted some ideas.
AnonyMouse_1326
We have done this before in my setting, we focused on one area of learning area. We had signs in each area, with details on what the children where learning. Last time we used playdough in each area and we gave the parents the playdough recipe to take home. for example we used the dough in the maths area with number mats, in the science area the children where making the dough. I hope this helps and good luck with your open morning
Guest
we have done the same as above, with maths or literacy being our focus. i put little cards on tables saying what the resources were for, e.g. make a repeating pattern fruit kebab - e.g. strawberry, grape, strawberry/grape etc
Guest
as above - focussed area with cards to explain. We ask that younger siblings don't come to these sessions so parents can work with their child, and anyway we don't have a secure place for all the pushchairs! Hope it goes well. Guest tinkerbell
We do this every Friday morning for half an hour before a whole school celebration/ certificate assembly. We just set up the room for continuous provision and the children show the parents what they do! If we have something special coming up eg we had harvest and some parents couldn't make it....we might sing the song we have been learning. You could also have photos or a PowerPoint onthe iwb of typical what goes on in class. having simple cards with the information for parents as to what is going onin each area would be useful.eg we have challenge cards for the children 'can you and a friend make up a story with Sid and Spike ?' This was in the small world tray with two soft toy hedgehogs, pine cones, leaves, pebbles, twigs and a fox....How strong is the magnet? How many. Paper clips can't pick up? .......the parents get the idea of what to do with the children......and if they don't you and the TA will be there to help. have fun we have a great relationship with our parents and they are always impressed with their children's work.
