Hi Chez

Do you think you could give us some more details as to what you mean by in creative. Is this your creative area and what sort of resources do you have access to? Is it working on a small scale?

I'd start the week with asking the children

What does Winter time mean to you?

How do you know it is Winter time?

What happens in Winter time that doesn't happen any other time of year?

What do you wear during Winter time? Why?

What is the weather (sometimes) like during winter time?

I would then follow their responses to inform ( produce a list from their ideas / comments) how they will creatively express their ideas of what winter is about. Encourage them to think about what resources they need to represent their ideas. Add ideas of your own as a "new" thought that they have helped you come to, ie: they mention snow, you ask, what is snow made from? move them towards saying ice, you respond, ooh, how can we make ice? ....etc give them ownership of their own creative ideas.

Have fun, but don't get too cold :o

p.s. Our children discovered "smokey breath" as one little girl called it, when we all went outside in the mist today. No resources required, just some weather, and there is lots of it out there for free. xD

Easy one - silver and white collage on black sugar paper - always very effective (especially if the pieces have a 'spikey' look to them. Or white 'blob and blow' pictures on black suagar paper, with silver glitter, also watered down glue trailed around on black sugar paper with silver glitter sprinkled, add a potato print spider and hey presto a wintery spiders web! Just a few but hope it is helpful!
