Brilliant blog (link above) about how difficult Christmas can be for children with Autism.

The Autism Education Trust have some great free resources available which help you to audit your setting (Early Years Autism Standards) . The link is here:

http://www.aettraininghubs.org.uk/early-years/

They also provide training through local hubs which in most cases should be free or at low cost. The local hubs are listed here http://www.autismeducationtrust.org.uk/aet%20programme.aspx scroll to the bottom of the page for early years.

Really useful, thank you.

We always try to keep things as stable as possible, but of course some things are different.

I have three autistic children this year, two of whom are coping really well but the third is having difficulties with the performance and the 'background music playing in the lunch hall. The idea of a 'social story' to reassure that all will be back to normal in January is a really good one, and I'll write one to prepare him for the Christmas party - last day of term! - too.
