Nearly the end of term!

Well I do not know how you are all feeling, but I am completely exhausted!! What a long term, broken up by an Ofsted inspection and not being able to shake the cough/cold thing for over three weeks! Am trying to dodge the sicky bug now, so am constantly washing hands to the point where they are now feeling really dry and snake skin like!! :o Party day on Friday and then the nativity on Saturday. And that's me done!! Determined to have one day at school sorting everything, ready for January and then I am forgetting it until next year(well I will try hard) How is anyone else feeling?

Just read that back and it sounds very negative, its not meant to be, especially in light of the recent events in the world over the last couple of days. I really am truly thankful that I work with such lovely little people and have an amazing family.

We have has an incredibly stressful term. :(:(:(

Not the children- they have all been pretty much angels for the whole term! (this might be because we had such a high level behaviour child for the last two years that any minor behaviour issues go unnoticed :D )

Not the staff - they have been wonderful too...

We are hoping that we have jobs to go back to in Jan

Obviously, the plus side to this is- once the party is finished Friday I am not doing ANY preschool work in my own time anymore EVER! :D:D:D So- no updating SEF, or any other paperwork over the holidays.

xx

Have I missed something?

I am more than ready for a break - we finish Friday.......I will have a fairly long to do list - but I won't be 'to doing' anything pre-school related until well after Christmas :1b

I usually like to try and get all my 'holiday homework' done as soon as possible so I can forget all about it properly - not sure I have the energy this year! Will see what happens come Saturday...

That is the 'sensible' solution but I don't have the 'energy' this time round - hope it will return after a few days 'switch off' well it will have to - lots to do! :1b

Know the feeling - when I fall asleep on the floor by half past seven and then have to force myself to do my must do jobs before I can go to bed I don't hold out much hope for the weekend!

We finish on Friday too - just as well 'cos I'm on my last legs - is it just that I'm getting older! Still waiting for Ofsted is really draining.

I really feel for you pre-schoolers who finish during the week. Hope we all have a good break!

We finished yesterday , lovely party with a fab entertainer , all ran smoothly , children were fab too and then for the 8 that remained for the afternoon , film and party food leftovers! We got the cupboard and resources put back and not just thrown in as usual . Previous years we try to get out quick for lunch but as we went out Tuesday eve for a meal it was much nicer.

I too have been unwell for over 10 days but just keep ploughing on but have to say I too am exhausted and have so much to catch on but again will do it after the day . Still doing last minute shopping and still no food!

I've finished today too! :1b

Have brought home loads of washing - including the kitchen curtains - popped those into my machine - 20 minutes or so later - there is an awful noise coming from my washing machine :o I had missed two of the 'clips' and they had found their way into the filter - all's well that ends well - I have managed to drain the machine and retrieve the clips and it's spinning now -but honestly a two minute job has taken all afternoon

Have to say i am really 'chuffed' though as I have gained an extra 24 hours - I was sure that Christmas Day was on Wednesday - I am losing it big time  but hey what a lovely surprise to find that it's actually Thursday!!! xDxDxD

Party day today which was spoilt by one little chap who we are having terrible trouble with, think we still managed to make it enjoyable for all the other children. (Will be asking your advice when I have got the energy to gather my thoughts and emotion's) I did manage to de-christmas the classroom and have a major shuffle around this afternoon, so will only just be a small amount left to do before January. Nativity tomorrow, I really am not sure how its going to go this year!! To be honest I cannot wait for it to be over!!!

Our last day today, had our party- I then came home a slept on sofa until now :D:D

I have brought NO paperwork home(and no washing either which is another first!!), and will not even be thinking about the preschool until the 5th Jan. xD .

How many other jobs would bring load's of work home during the Xmas holidays let alone feel guilty for saying that they are not going to think about work until after the holiday??

My husband picked me up from work today and said, you look completely drained!! This is the man that would not usually notice if my hair had turned green!! God I must look awful, think I need a major pick me up before Christmas.

You've inspired me - my machine has been making an awful noise recently and I hadn't thought about checking anything as it's on its last legs anyway but if I can get another couple of weeks out of it so much the better. As for a bonus day - brilliant news - want to come and help do my last bits of present shopping/decorating etc etc etc.

LOL. My mum once rang me up on a Saturday morning - she was away in Yorkshire, I'd called in to see Dad briefly the night before. When he spoken to mum he'd said I looked tired and she reckoned that if he'd noticed I was probably at death's door!

I too have brought no washing home - mostly because of the aforementioned dodgy machine! I am treating myself to chinese take out tonight and will sleep and contemplate the to do list tomorrow. Managed to get the classroom de-Christmased I think - always find something in about March - and survived the last day with a couple of children whose behaviour was 'not good' (beyond just being excited). We'd got everyone ready then one of my Y1 girls came up to me and asked "Can I have a hug?" The answer was yes of course and then several others came for a hug which was just lovely - I nearly cried! Had to smile though at the Y1 boy who hugged me because he's just started doing that refusing to give his mum a goodbye kiss in the morning thing and even refused to put any kisses on his Christmas card yet he hugged me! ;)

Like so many it seems I have staggered through the last couple of weeks of this term with this nasty flu like virus thingy and most unlike me collapsing into bed when I've got home. Managed to get though our Nativity play - which was lovely and the children's Xmas party - both of which thankfully went well. Most of my staff team have also been unwell to varying degrees and have kept on going - all credit to them and we have had lots of children off unwell too.

Have work stuff waiting in the wings but I really must see if I can find my festive spirit - not a decoration up in my house yet and not a pressy wrapped as have just felt too wiped out to bother.

Hopefully two weeks r&r will help anyone else who has been suffering get back to full health and enjoy their Christmas break.

Now where is that festive spirit?

I have NEVER in all my years of doing nativity plays had so many screamers before we got on stage!! To the point when I actually thought this is not going to happen!! But we got them up there and they were brilliant, I was very proud of them.

Have really taken a good couple of days to relax and not feel so tired and am so glad not to be at work. Wishing everyone a very happy Christmas a healthy new year. Thanks for another year of fab advice and laughs on this great forum. Xxx

I finished yesterday and I did my activity time planning for the week back at the weekend, so I don't have to think about work until I return on the 5th Jan.

Of course, I will think about work as I never switch off. Still got books to read y'know ;) have a lovely Christmas and break everyone.

Tomorrow I will start on the 'to do list' - I'm repeating this over and over - my oomph hasn't returned yet! :D

My oomph hasn't made an appearance either - in fact today I am in full work avoidance mode - I have nine PSLA policy updates to review to see if their changes have any impact on our policies (we use theirs as a base model) - they're loaded up in Word but I truly just can't face them at the moment - there's the small matter of planning to get sorted and then the newsletter for parents to a) write and b) upload to the website - it is a gloriously cold, clear, crisp and dry day here and methinks that I should take time to enjoy it :1b

Glad it's not just me without oomph! My original plan of getting everything done by Christmas Eve didn't work out so then I decided I would work at the weekend and finish yesterday. Saturday was fine and I got loads done. Yesterday, I literally did nothing (not even procrastinating!) as I simply couldn't stay awake - I fell asleep on the floor, with my head on the desk, on the sofa. In the end I gave up and decided I'd sacrifice today. Still didn't wake up until 8.20am despite all the sleep yesterday so I'm telling myself I must have needed it.

Today is now officially my 'last day of work' but I'm only going to get the planning done, none of the work for SIAMS, or my newsletters or bigger thinking stuff - just ordinary planning!

I'm done! All the planning is finished. Have even defrosted the freezer, cleaned the oven and the kitchen floor. Just about to do the ironing! I don't know what's come over me! Tomorrow I'm having my hair cut and playing. I want to make a snowflake tree as a slightly belated decoration but mainly because I love cutting snowflakes!

Well done young Froglet! :D

Now could you please bottle some of that 'oomph' and send it down to me!

Time is now 11;15 - nothing much achieved so far today

Did you watch Call the Midwife? The children in the play wore quite lovely snowflake hats - thought I might try and freeze a frame and see if I can work out how they made them
