AnonyMouse_33900 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hi all After a bit of information/advice. I am manager of a committee led pre-school. We are a small rural setting employing only 5 staff. The committee have recently started investigating what our insurance covers us for and where the trustees would stand if a legal claim was made against us. Have any you ever had any problems with claims being made against you with regards to Health and Safety/ Risk assessments should a child have an accident. We think we have everything covered but were just worried that insurance might not cover us in these sort of incidents. Thank you Quote
AnonyMouse_11396 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hi if you are with the PSLA you can take out extra indemnity to cover a committee. We are now an incorporated company with charitable staus, this does give our committee more cover. Quote
Guest Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hi the charity I work for is a committee and yes we have separate indemnity insurance to protect committee members as individuals - we have never had a claim made against us though and have been running for 46 years! but with todays "where there's blame there's a claim" culture I have to say I would probably go for the indemnity if I were your committee!! AnonyMouse_6721 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 We have extra indemnity insurance for the trustees with the pla. Just realised recently that our insurance only covered for a turnover of £50,000 when are actual turnover is nearly three times that. Whoops. I have increased now. Quote
AnonyMouse_33900 Posted January 29, 2015 Author Posted January 29, 2015 Thank you all for your replies. Will reassure the committee; Quote
