AnonyMouse_39602
My niece and partner ( primary teacher ) also run their own theatre camp for children , she has asked me to be a chaperone for upcoming dance show. The venue is in the next county but I have to apply to county I live in , no problem there then , you would think ! The county she lives and works in , does not charge and has all applications online unlike my county which having received email said I needed to a DBS , so I thought I will ring them , after all I have an enhanced DBS with no break , designated safeguarding officer and enough safeguarding training to boot , Oh no says the lady when I rang her , you have to apply for a DBS again as your not on the update service , even though the job I do day in day out requires all this to be in place ! Talk about paper work for paper work sake ! ! If I was a serious risk would I be doing the job I'm doing !

AnonyMouse_8282
Could it be because you have an old style crb as opposed to an actual dbs? If so I do sort of understand it to be honest. (obviously ignore that if you have the dbs!)
AnonyMouse_39602
Yes Louby Lou I do have old style but still just 3 yrs old and IMO the new DBS does not offer anything more except an update service ! I would understand it if I did not do the job I do and had a long break but this is continuous and all my training is via this County ! Aargh! AnonyMouse_22106
I know of someone who has a 'transportable DBS' who has still had to start again when she changed jobs!
AnonyMouse_11396
One of my old committee had a DBS with us in Essex. They also were going to be a chaperone at a dance show. The licensing authority were fine with the one she had.
