Small World Resources

Recommended Posts

I am after some advice about how to spend some pupil premium money I have got. I know that I need some small world resources to help the child in developing a variety of skills. However, I am struggling to find what I want. I love the look of the small world themed enhancement boxed sets available from Early Excellence but they are very expensive. Does anyone have any experience of these...are they worth the money? Can anyone recommend anything else? Thank you.

Having a cohort like our current lot who are biters and chewers of all things small world, I would say that the more you can invest the better. I would go for animals and characters that are really sturdy and without any bits that can be easily pulled or chewed off. Have you looked at Early Learning Centre stuff too? They have a sale on at the moment and also 3 for 2 offers.

Small World items can be pricey - when you pay up to £5 per item the cost quickly spirals but like at Early Excellence centre - less is more and you don't need loads of stuff out at any one time.

Shopping for this kind of stuff can be a headache but the benefits outweigh all that :-)

The small world area is a constant money guzzler in my setting so I asked parents for any small world figures and got a wide variety from farm animals to action figures. I also find car boot sales really useful, I got a large basket full of animals for £5 - bargain, although I don't suppose you can spend your PP money there? Freecycle is good too.
