AnonyMouse_11396
I'm surprised they don't do this already. I think it sells itself really. It's fun, great to be outside, it' could be working as a team, exercise, learning new skills, as well as an opportunity for parent/carers to be involved by coming to support the children and school. AnonyMouse_19782
Our reception years and years ago used to set individual challenges, so how many times can you do ......? or throw, or catch rather than competing against each other, they compete against themselves. Ducks on hooks say- how many can they catch in a minute, this could be extended or shortened depending upon a child's abilities. Or just the types of things they already do in P.E. lesson but parents dont get to see.

AnonyMouse_22029
We do a circuit of events and put children into teams of 5 or 6. They don't compete sgainst each other but do the same activity. We have egg and spoon. Last year with real eggs! A practitioner with hens found them laying more than she could give away. A dressing up race - well hats & boots. A swimming race - they put on a divers mask, goggles and make breast stroke type arm movements whilst walking in a straight line. Parachute game, obstacle course and a drink stop. Each team does an activity then we they have finished they move to next activity. There is always one group have a drink break. We finish with a family picnic. I do love sports day.
