AnonyMouse_51233 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 can you become a manager of a pre-school as soon as you are qualified if you worked in the setting for 2 years before and during the course or is it 2 years post qualification experience?? Quote
AnonyMouse_22106 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 I did, but then after advertising for quite a long time, they were desperate!! :-) 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19920 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 A lot of places would ask for the experience of working as a manager for two years - i suppose it depends on the experience of the person - have they completed any of the responsibilities / roles of the lead? lots of jobs done by a lead (not that the staff think we do anything lol) . 1 Quote
Guest Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 3.23. In group settings, the manager must hold at least a full and relevant level 3 qualification and at least half of all other staff must hold at least a full and relevant evel 2 qualification. The manager should have at least two years’ experience ofworking in an early years setting, or have at least two years’ other suitable experience. The provider must ensure there is a named deputy who, in their judgement, is capable and qualified to take charge in the manager’s absence. l Quote
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 How would you have 2 years experience as a manager if no one ever gave you a managers job because you don't already have 2 years experience as a manager ;p 3 Quote

Think it would depend on the individual, the type of experience they have in a setting etc.. and take the decision for that person. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 No ...was implying it would be stupid if it meant that. Quote
AnonyMouse_63 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 I would take it as "The manager should have at least two years’ experience of working in an early years setting" Quote
AnonyMouse_39602 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Same as thumperrabbit , I did have my level 3 and have learnt everything on the job myself did not even have a suitable deputy at the time but lots of reading etc and enormous help and support on here . 1 Quote
