Guest
numeracy is "the state of being numerate" ie having an undestanding of maths Mathematics is "the science of magnitude and number, the relations of figures and forms, and of quantities expressed as symbols" (definitions supplied by Chambers dictionary) So, I guess mathematics is the knowledge bit and numeracy is the understanding and application of that knowledge.
