I'm not sure if this topic has already been covered on here so I apologise if it has. We are trialling NurseryBook to see if we can come away from the usual paper learning jouranls we have been doing forever. This has not come easily to many staff and as yet we have yet to share anything with the parents.

My question for now is, if any of you use this format, what programme/system would you recommend, what are the costs invovled, have you found it benefical to your setting ie. staff and parents. Are you able to track your children via one of these systems? How often do you print off pictures etc, do you just produce a learning journal when the child leaves etc. Sorry so many questions to ask.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. We have 100 children on roll with 14 key people.

Many thanks

Tapestry is definately way forward. Cost effective, easy to use, parental engagement is fantastic, monitoring of progress is superb and customer service is excellent.

We've been using it over a year now and there's no looking back.

would suggest you apply for trial period. Hope you enjoy it.

We have used this in the past but I wasn't able to do what I wanted it to do for our setting, Does it allow you to track different cohorts of children? will it cater for 100 children? would I be able to access it all on 9 tablets? Sorry for being a pain, I'm not that techno Thank you

Yes it will. We have a package for 120 children. We use 9 ipads and 2 pcs. And yes you can check different cohorts. There is a dedicated tapestry section on this forum which is very useful, friendly and prompt.

Oh when was that? I have no record of a Tapestry account for you?

Hi Sue, that's because I've been silly and not used it! I've used PRAMS thinking it was all tied in together, I have today e.mailed asking for a trial. See, human error already and I haven't even started! Sorry :D

I have been using Orbit as it was free but it is closing at the end of term. Cue big panic but I think I will be able to talk my committee into buying into Tapestry. I think they were a bit dubious at the beginning but after using Orbit (which has been great) they really like the idea of seeing things immediately so hopefully another Tapestry user in the offing here.

Hi we are looking at using Tapestry - any recommendations for tablets to use only for Tapestry , there are so many on the market with a variety of functions but I think we just need a basic one. Advice very much appreciated !

We are using Tapestry and absolutely loving it. Not only are the parents able to be involves they are also impressed.

We are still getting our heads around the amazing reports we can run!!

Please can I say I had a lot of sceptical staff at week two. However, by week four they were all weaving away!!!

We do an app for Apple devices so iPads and iPads etc

We also do an Android app and our best advice is if they are the latest generation of that tablet (as opposed to an old one found in the bottom of the draw :P:P ) and they are made by a larger/reputable company like Samsung or Nexus etc then they should be fine.

We do sometimes get asked about devices that we have not heard of or come across as there are so many devices available and of course we do not have every device ever manufactured to test sadly.

The Hudl works well although sadly that is stopping.

We have just launched an app that is available for the brand new Amazon Fire and we have new Amazon Fire 7" in the office (one of these) and have tested the app and it runs OK. (more info http://eyfs.info/forums/topic/39132-kindle-fire/ )

As an aside you can use a mixture of devices in a setting so if you brought an Apple product and then saw a really good deal on an Android device you could buy that too, you don't need to all use the same type of device unless of course you wished to.
