Go to format in the tool bar above your document, choose "font" and check the box marked "outline". You can also select your required font size.

My version of word (2003) doesn't offer an outline option. xD oooooooooops yes it does :o I purchased the sassoon font (Jolly Phonics font) this has a tracker and dotted option.

You can use Word Art too which is good cause you can easily resize them. Click on View, then Tool bars, and it should either have its own name, or if not try 'Drawing'

I use word art a lot for labels for displays, banners, letter outlines for children to use. I get to it in Word by "insert" "picture" "wordart". You also have the option to re-size, fill the letters with colour, outline in a different colour, thicker outlines, rotating the words, etc. You can also select any of your available fonts for the wordart. Great when doing banners for displays.
