Historically our preschool did but in the last 3 years we have not done a play as such , we ask the children if they want to or what they would prefer to do , the 1st year , we did what I would like to be when I grow up and they dressed accordingly and we did a little rhyme for each child before giving them gifts and certificates , last year they loved Going on a bear hunt so they acted it out , very simply and parents loved it as did the children , this year we are taking them on a trip .

I don't believe in spending weeks rehearsing , just choose a favourite story of theirs to act out , they are familiar with it and will enjoy it so much more , they could make props or costumes .

Hi we always have an end of term concert, which all our children may take part in and all families are invited too. We serve refreshments and have a raffle to raise funds. This is when we officially say goodbye to our leavers. So it's a real celebration of our year. They receive a small gift and we hand over their learning journal to them and their parents/carers.

We generally base it around the activities we have been exploring, so following a recent trip to a butterfly park, we have decided to share the story of the "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" with accompanying songs, musical instruments and maybe a little bit of dancing.. We also have the fire service and police coming in to us in the next couple of weeks, so some narration about these might be explored as well.

:)

Have to say we don't rehearse for weeks, but we do have lots of fun doing it.:)

Our Learning Journies have already been passed onto our 6 schools when Teachers came to visit at beg of June.......

Out of interest tish501, do the schools give them to the parents once they have looked through them. Ours remain the property of the parenti/carers with an accompanying letter suggesting they share with their chosen school.

We have already held our transition meetings in May and passed on information.

As far as I am aware, the Learning Journies are passed on to parents at the end of the Foundation Stage by the scgool (i e when they are 5 ),unless the child leaves before then in which case they get them then.Either way the parent should eventually get to keep them.Thought we all did the same ?

We have to give ours directly to the schools then ask them to give back to the parent when they have finished looking at it. This is a condition of our funding. We also give a summative assessment sheet for the school to keep. Sorry, gone off track from the original post.

We are doing a leavers concert using ' Happy Sun High' by Niki Davies from Out Of Ark Music which is full of jolly songs and actions. We dress up and perform for parents followed by a picnic with the parents.
