AnonyMouse_22106 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 What will you be paying your staff? We always put our wages up in September in line with whatever minimum wage goes up by eg 3% this year But I've been thinking about the living wage & how we will have to put wages up again in April. Just wondered what others are planning? Quote
AnonyMouse_3735 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 It may depend on finances.. that extra money outgoing for 6 months could be a deal breaker if the income is not there to make it viable.. It is just wrong that everyone is in a position of not being able to pay a decent wage because there is not enough income from the government.. it was the only/ main income and did not increase at all for years, the books simply would not balance without fundraising to cover the shortfall.. We all remember when the funding more than covered the costs .. but it never kept up with the inflation or extra we all have to pay out. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 We also had in place that all wages went up same percentage as min wage - 3% in Oct. But at meeting in June committee decided put fees up only 10 pence an hour (£3.30) and to put wages of staff, not on min wage, up only 1%. You can imagine how that went down when we found out. The problem is, that we know that we can not continue to pay wage rise at the same percentage for all staff. I have reduced staff hours (including me) for Sept whilst trying to ensure over ratio to meet needs of 2 year olds but not sure how long that can continue. Looks like Sept 16 will see our traditional big drop in child numbers return. Funding rates from LA dropped in April and the way it is paid. We now have to wait until the next term for part of the funding. So tough times ahead. 1 Quote
