AnonyMouse_19920 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 well - almost a week into the holidays and I am working through the usual "to do" list -hoping to have it all done by the end of the week ( lol) just looking at planning now - does anyone still do long term planning -showing what you will do over the year? if so do you have a plan i can look at for ideas? if not what do you do - what would you say to ofsted if they came in in september? just fed up spending the holidays trying to update everything!! AnonyMouse_8282 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I just have an A4 sheet with the 38 weeks listed, and simply add any important dates/festivals/celebrations. I usually add 'settling in' on the first couple of weeks, along with settling back after Christmas and Easter. I sometimes add seasonal things - like prepare the garden in spring... But that's as far as my long term plan goes. 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_8282 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Two ticks today! Hurrah!!! You have to share to qualify for the ticks! Edited July 28, 2015 by louby loo Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I'm not sure what happened to my 'I will get it all done before the end of July' - hmmm - just keep finding much better ways to spend my time In answer to your question - no I don't prepare a long term plan and haven't done so for years - we were inspected in March and no mention of this at all......... Sure that at some point a trainer told me something along the lines of "your enabling environment is your long term plan" and I thought 'brilliant that will do for me then'! 3 Quote
AnonyMouse_22029 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 OK tick 1 was prep work for a CP conference. Tick 2 was a call to someone who applied for cleaner's job and now tick 3! Funding consultation done! got to £5.01 per hour. I'm sorry but I don't do long term plan either. The long term sight is that children are suing reources independently and that we as adults are able to respond to their needs and interests. Off to cook dinner probably with real vegetables and to do some more catching up with the Archers. Back tomorrow for the rest of the list. And yes that is going to be a chore updating policies! And looking at the SEF! So I'll keep you posted. Quote
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 No long term plan for us either. Just dates of festivals and special days in diary. Quote
AnonyMouse_73 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 My to do loist stopped at the first item....which is Write a to do list, which I still haven't done yet. I always think of the long term plan being essentially your setting ethos, the way you do things, why you do things the way you do etc. Quote
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 As you don't have a list yet mundia could you help with mine please for every one thing ticked off at least two more get added Quote

AnonyMouse_5970 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 (edited) We don't do a long or medium term plan either. In fact I'm thinking of dropping the short term planning too and instead trying 'Planning in the Moment'. I've been reading Anna Ephgrave's book The Nursery Year in Practice and it's really inspired me! Edited July 29, 2015 by Stargrower 3 Quote

AnonyMouse_5970 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I couldn't put it down! So much so that I bought a second copy so we could have two on the go. My deputy and I have both read it all now and they've been passed on to other staff. When we're all done, I'll sell one copy. Highly recommended but gives you a LOT to think about! :1b Quote
AnonyMouse_22029 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Tick 4 at the hairdresser . Had to abandon policy reviews. Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 No progress at all here today - went with my daughter-in-law to get some 'professional' photos taken of my beautiful granddaughter - 7 weeks old already - we had a lovely time! :1b Then feeling very guilty because my other sons chocolate lab is staying with me and we didn't get a walk in this morning so have been out with him - have run his legs off (not literally obviously  ) Must be time now to start thinking about preparing dinner.........so that was today - clearly far too late to start on any work items now .......wonder what excuses I can find for tomorrow 4 Quote
AnonyMouse_14268 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Getting through my list. One more day should see me finished and then am going to try and switch of!! I also am reading the Anna Ephgrave book, finding it very interesting (I do love books with photo's as well) 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I'm impressed zigzag ...one more month might see me finished  1 Quote
AnonyMouse_9650 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 My to do list was well an truly put on the back burner as I needed to upgrade to a new laptop and transfer files, emails and goodness knows what else across and get to grips with a new operating system - Oh how I detest Windows 8!!!!!!!! However I am sort of up and running and as it's not beach hut weather I have decided to knuckle down today First and most importantly my personal to do list - at this time of year it is my MOT time so it was off to the optician so that I can make sure that I can see what I'm doing - I obviously spend far too long doing admin as I need stronger reading specks!! I have been a goody two shoes today and updated the website with all the new stuff for the new school year, done the accident book review and am currently trawling through the ops plan to ensure that that is fully up to date. I would like to finish most of my list by the end of this month so that I can enjoy some down time (I found virtually the whole series of Ian Rankin Rebus books in a local charity shop which should keep me occupied) and the clock is ticking - although I am still formulating my response to that blasted consultation !!!! AnonyMouse_19782 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Day 3 of hols for me! Monday went well, cleaned out 3 cupboards at the hall and brought home washing. Tuesday, one large kitchen cupboard at home, then baby sitting 2 darling grand daughters (excellent excuse) for no more work. Day 3 - youngest son home from a months' holiday with - yes you guessed it a months' worth of washing!!! We are slowly getting through it because he is off back to his Uni house tomorrow to clear up down there before finding new premises to live where he has found a job - it's just all go! Sue - Windows 10 out - what are you doing footling around with Windows 8! Leaving parents gave us a Hudl so also been getting that up and running today. Haven't even started on the setting paperwork but will keep on until I feel Im done then drop in a heap for a few weeks! Quote
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Ordered Anna Ephgrave book yesterday. Expecting great things from it!!! Quote

Ohh same here! Added to my issues are they are not longer making sony laptops.. I'm waiting a few weeks to see how windows 10 pans out- it that, or a mac, and as I don't handle change easily I keep putting it off Currently lappy crashes about twice a day- but I'd still rather have that then try something new.xx Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 So.........as I have just said in another thread Operation Stack now has me grounded - should have been heading into town with a friend this afternoon - we were going to see if we could find a nice bargain last minute break......but have had to give up on that idea for the day - apparently our local town has ground to a halt even my postlady cautioned "you're not thinking of going far today are you" The upshot is I am making some headway with the old 'to do' list........so every cloud and all that! :1b Quote
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Keep seeing the stuff on the news, cant imagine what it would be like if we were going on holiday - always used to take the car and go over from Folkestone, or Dover if I could face the boat! Cheer up Sunnyday - as you say making headway on the old TDL 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Sunnyday - I can't imagine it. At least the TDL is progressing (and doesn't calling it a TDL make it sound so much cooler?!) and as I keep seeing Kent on the news I am thinking of you even more often than usual! Quote

Thank you young froglet - I mustn't whinge about it really it is having far less impact on me than many others....... Yes I like TDL too - have made some serious progress today - sure I won't be able to get anywhere tomorrow either so I intend to press on again - must stop leaving the jobs that I don't want to do like accounts and the consultation thingy........ AnonyMouse_9650 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Sue - Windows 10 out - what are you doing footling around with Windows 8! Unfortunately old laptop just couldn't keep up with the admin in early years so had to bite the bullet about a week before windows 10 was released - I'm not sure I can cope with another upgrade already!!!!! As far as the TDL is concerned - my personal MOT continues with a hairdo (need to get rid of the silver speckles!!) which was lovely and relaxing Today's plan is to continue with the update of the ops plan - that and some reading and TV watching too. Sorry to hear you are grounded Sunnyday - the pictures on the news look pretty grim - although down here are roads are clogged with grockles!! 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 I bit the bullet with Windows 8 a year ago when my last laptop gave up the ghost. Once I'd worked out that I wanted to have 'old style' windows to look at I manage to avoid those weird tile things apart from the initial screen - once I've clicked on desktop I'm sorted! Can't remember at the moment how I did it but if I can help at all shout! 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19733 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Snap Froglet, that's the way I get by on Windows8. Sunnyday, I've decided to call it Operation Stuck as that's where I am 'stuck', have to make plans for long winded de-tours anytime I go out. Never thought I would end up running the gauntlet just to visit my mum who lives 8 miles away and I now have to travel either 12 or 15 miles to get to her. ...as for getting to the supermarket, well that's another story.
