Hello everyone.

At the end of the academic year you probably do your accounts, summaraising expenses and preparing a forecast for the new term.

My question is how much on average you spend in a year on Advertising and what means of advertising you found the most useful?

Our parents suggested to print some leaflets, but I have some doubts about this.

We are sessional rural pre-school. We only advertise in parish magazines (free) and Local Authority Family Information Service (free). We have a printed tri-fold leaflet which we send out to people who phone for information. We also receive enquiries via the Childrens' Centres and 2 year funding promotion. So the answer to your question is nothing - at the moment!

Word of mouth is our best advert!

As already suggested really, word of mouth is the best way, however, often the slowest!!! Website is on my TDL as most parents these days research on the net (could make sure you are on Mumsnet?). Make sure you are on webpage listings such as Kids on the Go (free), and that if you are in any freebie magazines such as Grapevine(free listing), that all your details are correct, we were in there, but they didn't put our address - not much use if you are looking for a particular area! I also sent our details to local toddler groups and contacted the local newspaper Community section for our area and they put a little bit about local pre-schools in on a rota type basis. Some also consider a Facebook page, but that's not for me.
