Yes, I agree Inge, I have been doing a carb free diet since May and it is so unbelievably simple, nobody quite believes me when I say i don't have any cravings - I didn't think I would be able to get along well without some favourites like pasta, or good bread etc. but frankly don't miss it at all. I had a persistent cough which has long gone- found that too was down to sugar intake, sleeping better, (not snoring- least I don't think so!!!). Not added sugar to anything for years, so I don't buy it either, other half still has disgusting sweetners in tea and coffee though.

AnonyMouse_7120
We had so much whining about only having water that we agreed to let them carry on bringing a small carton in lunch box, following the programm started checking labels and 1 small carton of black currant had 7 tsps of sugar !

It/s amazing isn't it? Best really stick to water or milk at all times for these little ones and a drink like that maybe at week ends or special days. Mouseketeer, do you think it might be an idea to put out a range of sugary drinks, foods that parents like to put in lunch boxes and cubes of sugar beside them so that they can physically recognise how much sugar they are giving their children just at lunch time. let alone any other time during the day? You could also have a pile of sugar cubes showing rda per child sugar intake
AnonyMouse_3735
Have seen very effective posters with information on that include a wrapper/carton/or sample of an item and then underneath it has sugar in grams and a bag holding that amount of sugar underneath it.. usually for drinks as that is a big source of hidden sugars - most include water as an example of no sugar..could be effective if you used those from lunch boxes as examples.. Tesco recently came under fire for removing any drinks that are marketed at children for lunch boxes if they had sugar in them... now there are a few more sugar free versions out there.. In the end it is parents choice but just highlighting and informing them may help.
