Guest Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 Wondering how people on here are finding administering the new Baselines? I imagine most people on here are EE and just wondered how long it was taking to do, what the information collated looks like etc. My group of schools chose to go down the CEM route and would be interested to make comparisons between the two. Any thoughts welcomed!
AnonyMouse_19802 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) Just a comment on this zigzag - but no help to you, sorry. Our feeder school are using a computer based baseline (not sure which one she's using - originally it was the baseline put together by speech and language experts? Believe it was then 'off the list'? Anyway, so far her opinion of the new starters is: 'hopeless' .........Oh, thats good then! - not what we thought! Once again we're not 'minding that gap'!!! Have asked her to feed back in more detail.......shall wait and see! Edited September 22, 2015 by Rafa
AnonyMouse_19802 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Whoops sorry Fairyjojo don't know why I said Zigzag......??
Guest Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 We're using EE and are at the info gathering stage - we plotted out a rough guide across the first few weeks so we weren't trying to do everything all at once, and so far it seems manageable - not very different from previous years. It'll be interesting when we come to enter data on both the baseline and the target tracker systems at the end of this half-term - may well be a case of input overload. Edexcel were talking about their system marrying up with Target Tracker, but I haven't heard anything further on that, and anyway we need assessments across the curriculum, not just baseline areas. So far we are pleased with this cohort, especially their speaking skills - we're hearing lots of tenses and even full sentences which is very rare for us.
Guest Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Hi I re-joined tonight after an absence of a few years, motivated by trying to carry out the Baseline, and wanting to know how others are getting on. I have been a Reception teacher for many years, and have taught in a few different places, including London. I am currently the FS Manager in a 3 form entry primary school. I am also a moderator for my local authority. So I feel I am justified in saying I am quite experienced! My colleagues are just as experienced. We are finding Baseline difficult to say the least. We each have 30 children in our class and are needing to spend our time settling in some children with quite complex and difficult needs. This, as you all know, can be very time consuming. We are using EExBA. We are also using Tapestry, which I love. Before I launch into specifics of the difficulties we are having, I was wondering if anyone else is finding the EExBA time consuming/tricky/difficult?? Thank you, and it's great to be back - although I have had to sign up with a different username.
Guest Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I've asked this on another thread so apologies for repeating it. I'm trying to find out whether you are given time extra to ppa to input data and whether you are responsible for analysing the data or just providing it for SMT? Thanks and Hi!:-)
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I'm assuming you're talking about the 'official ' baseline? No, no extra time. Analysis will be done between me and the head - I think!!
Guest Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I just wondered what most schools did. At my last school, I was given an afternoon each half term to input e-profile and/or tracking data. I passed input to the SMT who did all the analysis. At this school, no time is given and more is required.
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I think you were very lucky at your last school. For me it comes under the 'A' part of PPA.
