AnonyMouse_6361
Well after doing one degree, then deciding teaching is not for me and getting no jobs in education. I decided it was time to make changes. Last week I started an access diploma to HE in health course. I am hopefully planning to become a speech and language therapist with child nursing as a back up. I still have a few open days to attend before I decide what to do. I have also change sites at work and no longer doing a lot of speech language phonic type interventions that I've done for the past 2 years. I'm doing less intervention, little bit of small groups but mainly sitting and sorting resources out. It's a tad boring and now relates more to nursing than the therapist degree. So I'm feeling confused but planning on escaping my current job this academic year. 10 years ago I applied to do child nursing but got rejected. Looking forward to seeing what the future brings!!!

AnonyMouse_6361
I said I want a new challenge, boy do I have one! Why are research topic ideas so hard? This time the research topic has to be from a health and social aspect, my brain keeps saying education. I can link into an education. Once I have decided one one, I hope this forum will be kind to me to help me out with the primary research. Is it summer 2016 yet? Only joking! AnonyMouse_6361
This challenge is starting to go somewhere. Unfortunately due to my high frequency deafness I am unable to become a speech and language therapist. I'm a little disappointed but there's been suggested to do nursing but with adults, as I can no longer understand what preschool children are saying to me. So I'm off to explore the world of an adult nurse. However I can be a health visitor from adult nursing. Talk about changing careers completely. Sometimes we have to adapt to our needs.
AnonyMouse_8466
Well Beth. If there's anyone I know who can adapt to change, its you! Good luck with your new challenges - I'm sure you'll get there!
AnonyMouse_6361
Well Beth. If there's anyone I know who can adapt to change, its you! Good luck with your new challenges - I'm sure you'll get there! Thanks Maz. Although I'm struggling to adapt to an echoey classroom at the moment, my head hurts from constant headaches. Not a nice feeling, had no problems in the last class. But I'm on the case to change it, even if it means having to come out of working with children and work in a supermarket or something. AnonyMouse_6361
Update: College is going ok. Grades could be better and hopefully will be once I fully start my 1:1 tuition with a specialist dyslexia tutor. I also applied to uni for adult nursing and today I have been offered an interview! So pleased, with a little dilemma as I was sacked from a job with a fictitious story just to get rid of me. Now not sure of all the details as it was years ago. I'm stuck on what date it happened and full details about it. Work wise, well after months of the horrid noisy classroom and daily headaches/migraines. I've finally handed in my notice. I have no job to go to. I don't care right now as I'm feeling ill from the experience.
AnonyMouse_8466
Well Beth at the risk of repeating myself: you're one of the most determined people I 'know'! Good luck with the interview - and I hope you're feeling better soon so that you can start the job hunt!
