AnonyMouse_53864
I was hoping to pick everyones brains. We really want to start home learning bags. We brain stormed lots of ideas last night in the team meeting and came up with story sacks, jigsaws etc. Has any tried any thing different with he bags they sent home. Any ideas will be gratefully received :-)

AnonyMouse_43806
We put together some Activity packs around pre writing and developing fine motor skills. Used large lunchboxes and put in set of bobbins and laces to thread, and large tweezers, pompoms and little pots. We put in some prompt sheets so parents knew what to do, e.g. count the pompoms with your child, talk about colours etc. I also put in an evaluation sheet for parents to complete and asked them to take a photo of their child using the activity pack and put it on the Tapestry LJ. Some parents do, some don't.
AnonyMouse_2157
We have maths sacks (similar to story sacks). In each maths bag there is an Orchard game see here http://www.orchardtoys.com/games as well as a story or non fiction book linked to the game. Sometimes there is a puppet also. We also have music bags - these contain two percussion instruments (one for the child and one for the adult) An activity sheet for that instrument and a CD which we have put together ourselves. Guest
We have "Chatter Bags", similar to the maths bag idea, that we developed as part of our ECAT support. Each bag has related items but always a turn taking game, fiction and non-fiction book, a craft activity or recipe and a feedback form for the parents to complete.
