AnonyMouse_73 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Tonight we should have an event we don't see too often.....A total lunar eclipse and Supermoon. Totality best seen between 3 and 4 am. ...great for insomniacs amongst us. Here's hoping for a clear sky. Anyone else? Wot, just me then? 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_30128 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 depends if my husband wakes me up in the middle of the night...then falls back to sleep leaving me WIDE awake for several hours!   Quote

AnonyMouse_13453 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Got a good clear view of it - just took this with little camera on zoom! Hope it stays clear! 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 So got up a couple of times last night, 3.40 moon rather orange! But not looking much larger though, However, pleased i saw this rather rare event Quote
AnonyMouse_73 Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 IT did go eerily dark around 3.20am, and that sort of rusty read colour. I agree it ddint seem particularly big, shame it wasn't earlier in the evening when the moon looked enormous. |Ts unusual for us in the UK to get such clear skies for these events, usually they are hiding behind a layer of cloud. AnonyMouse_3735 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Saw it, rather small but very red.. lovely clear sky and as they turn all the street lights off at 1am around here very little light pollution so very clear. Quote
AnonyMouse_79 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Well I had a look, couldnt see any red when I peeped! Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 So.......like panders I never make it through the night without a visit to the bathroom  Got up at 3am - eclipse not total at that time time - nothing very 'large' either but it was definitely an orange/red colour - pleased that I remembered to take a look :1b 3 Quote
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 It didn't look red at all from here, but we saw the full thing. Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 It didn't look red at all from here, but we saw the full thing. How strange.......oh and what time did you see the total eclipse? Quote

Guest Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Great pics Rea and Cait. Thanks for posting. It looked really big when I went to bed about 10. Mr Gruffalo woke me about 3.15 and I stuck my head out of the window to see it - then went back to be 2 minutes later! It was quite small by that time but a very red/rusty colour. Quote
