AnonyMouse_56750
Hello everyone, I am interviewing on Wednesday for post of Early Years Assistant. I have just put my questions together and noticed I don't have one on Safeguarding, is there one anyone normally uses in particular? I was thinking of a scenario possibly? Thanks I have complete mind blank!
AnonyMouse_4869
We ask something along the lines of 'What do you feel your role is regarding keeping children safe?' and 'Can you explain what you would do if you were concerned about the safety of a child?'. We expect the candidate to realise that this is a safeguarding question. They are sent the safeguarding policy with their interview info.
AnonyMouse_19920
we always ask about whistle blowing - if they were concerned about a colleague etc.,
AnonyMouse_5970
Yes, very similar to Lucie. Depending on the level of experience of the candidate and the role I was interviewing for I might then ask questions to prompt a response - or not! Guest
I have been attending a few interviews recently and the most commonly used is a scenario based question, focusing on suspected harm of a child, what would you do, who would you tell, what would you say to the child (if anything) that sort of thing. Previously I have been asked about day to day safeguarding things such as signing in and out (staff/children/visitors), collection time, keeping the area safe and secure...seeing if the candidate can relate everyday tasks and responsibilities to maintaining consistent safe practice. Hope this helps.
