Hi wise ones. I am trying to search for a book to support a child who is going to be having complex surgery on his hands in the near future.

Not having much luck at the moment.

We are going to make a book to share, with items we feel might be beneficial for them. But wondered if anyone knew of a book in publication that might support them too.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received, thank you.:)

Have you tried contacting the hospital or asking parents if they have been given anything to support him , depending on where he is having it , local or London , often you will find the hospital will have information for what the child can expect to happen ,may be worth trying .

Wow Fredbear -I can see why you are having problems, not a huge amount of books on this at all. To be honest, I think, depending upon his age etc. to make the book with him would be more beneficial. It can be geared to his needs. I'm sure mum has been thinking too, putting together a bag for him to take, talking about what will happen (cbeebies, had a good little section) making sure that terminology being used can't be confused. Contacting the hospital play specialist could be a good move.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

Not much out there, which is a shame.

Yes we will be making contact with GOSH too.

Thought we might make a story sack, with finger puppets, chubby crayons with paper/card for when the bandages come off.:)
