Guest
How does every put children into emerging, expected or exceeding? For example a child aged 30 months, secure in development 22-36 would you put this as exceeding or expected ?
Guest
I would assess that as expected, they are achieving withing the correct age bracket. If they had elements in the age range above then I would begin to consider whether they were exceeding.
AnonyMouse_30128
surely you cant have exceeding in learning objectives or they would be on the next age band wouldn't they?
Helen
Yes I agree, and I don't think you could call a child of 30 months who has been assessed in the 30-50 months age-band as exceeding either- because she is still within her actual chronological age-band. 'Exceeding' only really applies to the ELGs.
AnonyMouse_73
Hi Marier, welcome to the forum. Really, emerging expected exceeding is only for the end of stage ie the EY Foundation stage profile where you are assessing against a specific ELG at the end of the reception year.
Guest
We use - emerging, developing and secure - at our setting. And that's with all ages - babies through to preschoolers. Hope that helps.
