AnonyMouse_48018
Are you allowed to install free-flow curtains over a fire exit door?
AnonyMouse_25678
We have and nobody has ever questioned them - I also know the local school have as well as they used the same 'freezer' curtains as us.
AnonyMouse_23964
Funnily enough I have been thinking about this. My thoughts are as long as it doesn't get in the way in the event of a fire, when the door is closed. Can the curtain strips be pulled back or held back when the door is closed? You could contact your local fire safety officer for advice.
AnonyMouse_55778
We have them at all our doors to facilitate free flow. They can be pulled back, held back or removed easily. We had our bi-annual fire safety audit two weeks ago and they have no issues with them.
AnonyMouse_25098
I asked the fire safety inspector when he last did his rounds and was told an emphatic no. He said while they didn't prevent escape they could impede it. I was very disappointed.

AnonyMouse_55778
Well I'm not taking mine down - in fact I'm planning to replace them soon as we've had them many years - they keep heat in and pests out (well - most pests!!!)

AnonyMouse_39602
My sister sister in law is an inspector for the fire service and goes around assessing buildings etc , I asked her the question the other day , if the exit is a fire exit then no they should not be used but if not and just an exit to outside then that is fine .
