Guest
Hello, We're currently reviewing our policies for paying staff who undertake Senco duties or act as lead for Safeguarding, and I'm curious as to what other settings do. At the moment our Deputy Supervisor is our safeguarding lead but she doesn't get any additional pay for this, whereas our 2 SENCOs are level 3 assistants and are paid an additional £11.41 per week. However we have quite a few children with safeguarding issues and we are looking at having a level 3 as deputy safeguarding lead after undergoing additional training. Thanks
AnonyMouse_22106
We are a committee run pre-school and don't have the funds to give anyone 'incentives' for taking on anything. To keep it fair everyone, who is qualified is expected to take on 1 role eg Safeguarding, Senco, Health & Safety etc
AnonyMouse_3735
did the same.. spread the roles to all qualified staff... no additional pay, except we did pay for the hours for essential meetings attended outside the setting..
AnonyMouse_23964
We are small committee run group. Our secondary duties come as part of the role so Manager is lead safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour and deputy is SENCO, Equality, planning and deputy safeguarding. So no extra pay but payment for meetings, courses etc. Our assistants are all level 3 and keypersons but no extra roles.
Guest
Thanks for your replies, interesting to hear what others are doing. We are also committee led, but quite a large playgroup, 80+ children and 12 members of staff. We seem to have had quite a substantial increase recently in the number of children with SEN or safeguarding issues (sometimes both) and so both these roles have seen an increase in workload. As a committee we want make sure that we are paying staff fairly for the additional responsibilities.
