AnonyMouse_3139 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 The operational plan thread has me thinking of a folder I could create for staff as manager is on long term sick....or a laminated piece of paper.... 1 Quote

AnonyMouse_19762 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Ooooh and Grrrrr - thought right must, must, must update the SEF today - this is a 'big deal' for me - not one of my favourite jobs at all I am being 'denied access' have rung the big O and they tell me that my Security Token has been changed - why - they couldn't tell me  Currently waiting for the new one to be emailed to me........ I could so easily just not bother  1 Quote
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I have spent the morning looking at things for my governor role. It should have been just 2 hours but have done 4 so far and still not finished. I'm actually enjoying it and finding it really interesting but it does mean that I haven't yet done anything for my actual job! Who needs to teach maths anyway?! 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well - a little update - never did manage to get online at all - all systems seem to just want to 'Deny Access' - how very rude! I have therefore updated my 'Your setting' section and sent them a hard copy - have sent it recorded delivery, have asked for confirmation of safe receipt and asked that they confirm that they have entered it online for me (not that I will be able to check) - I really hope that they do this for me - it's all hugely frustrating........ I will look at updating the rest if and when I get confirmation from them. I will in the meantime cross 'Update SEF' off my TDL ::1a ::1a ::1a Right accounts next - see you later!!! 2 Quote
AnonyMouse_14268 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I have been trying to cross the SEF from my TDL for about a year! It still remains very firmly on it. 4 Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I have been trying to cross the SEF from my TDL for about a year! It still remains very firmly on it. I know what you mean zigzag it's a cra rubbishy job - but I was so determined to do mine today - hence my complete and utter frustration that I couldn't do it online - as I said earlier - Grrrrrrrr Accounts are completed - yay! Policy updates next - see you later!!! 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_3139 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 From not having any jobs last week to having a list this week........... So far: Made flyers to distribute around about, low numbers this year and NO waiting list! Manipulated minutes of AGM to include new members being voted on! Sent estimated numbers to EY dept ready for first lot of funding. Complete guess because staff didnt want to do 'work stuff' today. Cant blame her, but neither did I! Written out and sent the dates we require to rent the church hall. Same day, every week and virtually every month...but still they require it. Prepared letters to go to the 5 new starters, telling them when to arrive and what to expect. Still to do: Wages. Birmingham council require us to pay minimum wage of £7.85 so that needs changing. Registers, name labels. But only when staff can tell me who they are. Arrange cleaning day and a meal out. Re-read 2011 PLA constitution because I'm sure it says staff can be on the committee as trustees. Look at this SEF stuff.....thingy. Then I'm going on my holidays! 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 See I knew you would have a TDL  Have a lovely holiday! :1b Quote
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) I'm impressed Rea you have been very busy. Put me to shame. All I have done so far is empty out my office and put stuff into rubbish bags and shredding - until machine died! Will be going down the burning route. Still got to put what's staying back in. Next on TDL is being ruthless with puzzles and games and books. We are on 2011 constitution and staff can be on committee. Edited August 1, 2016 by lsp 1 Quote

I've got probably 3 bonfires more needed ☺ Quote
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Well, I spent the whole of last week doing governor stuff on and off (and thoroughly enjoying it) then today finally got around to tackling some of the maths work as well as going through my work e-mails and deleting loads! But my favourite holiday day so far was Monday when I cooked (red lentil and tomato soup, herby cheese rolls and an iced ginger shortcake with Thai pork patties, noodles and sweet chilli sauce for tea), read and then painted the wall opposite my back door. It's been a dingy dark red for the last 17 years and now it's a lovely fresh cream, has a wooden shelf on it and hopefully by the end of next week will have pots of herbs and geraniums on to create a herb garden that I can actually get to! Quote
AnonyMouse_3139 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Oh wow, that's what I've done! Well son actually! Painted the red wall white and bought geraniums to go against it. I'd seen a shelf unit in Home Sense but it had gone when I decided it would be Feb. I haven't done anything else except go on a 10 mile round walk to post the flyers in cafes, surgeries, shops ect. The local, council run leisure centre wouldn't let us post one, the manager said it was a conflict of interest because they're thinking of having a soft play area!!! I'm still fuming! Quote

Glad its not just us - I'm finding it's getting more difficult to find places that will display flyers, even our local libary won't do it anymore as they say there are too many childcare settings asking & their board wouldn't be big enough! AnonyMouse_19782 Posted August 13, 2016 Posted August 13, 2016 (edited) I agree it's getting trickier, my GP surgery doesn't have a notice board any longer! or didnt when I last visited. I have a postcard at the local P.O./General store and it's right where people queue up to get the post office bit, so nothing else better to do than read! My local paper also has very localised pieces in the paper from correspondents who live in that electoral district and they put notices in and happy to put in the pre-school occasionally. I occasionally write letters to the local paper too if we have had a picnic somewhere local, but all these things I'm not so sure the younger generation of mums "look there", frankly it needs to be on the web. I make sure all the places like Mumsnet etc. have our up to date details correct etc. Edited August 13, 2016 by Panders 1 Quote
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I have my niece and nephew staying. We just got back from the Garden of Imagination at Calke Abbey (isn't that a lovely name!) and when we've recovered we're going to make BFG dream jars! 3 Quote
AnonyMouse_43806 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 The local library (under council direction) now charges £1.50 a week to put up a poster. So much for community spirit. I advertise all their activities to my parents however! I have invested in a banner from Vistaprint to hang on the railings outside. It cost around £35 and I'm hoping it will catch the eye of passing trade. It seems that Twitter and Facebook are the way to attract attention but I'm no expert and it takes me so long. Quote
AnonyMouse_26037 Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 (edited) Here are our dream jars! We had such a great time making them and the children are now falling asleep (I hope!) with the dream jars lined up on the mantelpiece in their room glowing gently as they drift off. Two photos of them glowing and one of what they look like when it's not dark! Edited August 22, 2016 by mattkelly Fixed photo orientation 4 Quote

They look fantastic ! Are they 'glow sticks' inside? I saw some made with cotton wool, paint and glitter - which I'm thinking of doing with some of ours when we go back. Quote

Well up to about 2 hours, but I did have a gap for a cuppa, re-group and a think! Straight online, don't mess about with paper 1 Quote
