AnonyMouse_13453
I'm currently helping a local Preschool build a website as they've not had one before and see this as a useful contact with a more professional 'front' than their current Facebook page. I'm getting on well, but I'd like to create an area where parents can download useful information like potty training, speech concerns etc. Have any of you wonderful people already done this, I need not reinvent the wheel if so! Please can you suggest some good links for me? Very many thanks
AnonyMouse_8885
I use NHS for my leaflets like potty training, biting etc.

AnonyMouse_30128
Eric for toileting! my goto favourite!!! Woodland trust for things to do. Tips for website...try to just get the basics done and published...then you can start playing a twiddling! Put a counter on..it really shows you how useful it is. Put one page a side for dates only. Get someone to take some good quality photos. Keep it simple!! DON'T PANIC! ...there is always a back button! and make sure you save what you like as you go just in case!!! AnonyMouse_13453
Thanks FM, it's the third one I've done, over the years. I just thought it might be nice to have some useful info for parents to download. The site is essentially complete, just waiting for policy updates really, so spuddling. AnonyMouse_22106
Is it a free site Cait? If so what have you used?
AnonyMouse_13453
Yes it's free. I've used Weebly again. You have to pay for the domain name of course, but everything else is free. You can upgrade to a paid site if you want to, but unless you want a really complicated site, there's no need.
AnonyMouse_8885
There are loads you could add, but I keep it fairly basic. In addition to the couple I stated I have one on chocking, biting, tantrums, baby and toddler safety, separation anxiety, bed wetting, and why play is important. I add something if it crops up, such as pinching.
AnonyMouse_8885
Ohhh I forgot, I recently added one on food portion sizes for toddlers!
AnonyMouse_29641
Is it a free site Cait? If so what have you used? I built a website last year. I was going to use Weebly, but for some reason I've now forgotten, I decided to us a Wordpress free site instead. Maybe there was a better range of appropriate templates. The free sites mean that you'll end up with a clumsy domain name like tantrumtowers.weebly.com or meltdownmayhem.wordpress.com. If you're using the site for promotional reasons it looks better if you pay for a domain name. It goes without saying that I have a very long, clumsy domain name - every pound a prisoner me.
AnonyMouse_8885
I have a clumsy domain name too because it is FREE. This hasn't hampered us though, you can check your stats and it seems we have a lot of views per week.
AnonyMouse_13453
I've got the domain name I wanted. It offered several for me to choose from, all sensible, .co.uk, .org, .com etc.

AnonyMouse_23964
This is high up on my TDL for summer. Must admit, bit apprehensive, haven't a clue. I did look at weebly before. I also looked ar examples of other pre-school weebly sites.

AnonyMouse_14268
I use Weebly. Have to say if I can set up a website anyone can! I found it quite easy and am really pleased with the results. Our Ofsted inspector was very impressed as well, do that was a bonus.
AnonyMouse_13453
My sister used Wix for a while, but has gone back to Weebly. The domain was $41 for 2 years.

AnonyMouse_8885
I get most of them off the NHS website. I can't remember where I got the food portion sizes from, I'll have a look and get back to you.

AnonyMouse_23964
We haven't got one Sunny. Problem is that everyone else around us has got one, and Facebook. Parents do ask for details. We don't have any Internet access so just another job to do at home! Unless I can persuade a lovely committee member to take control of it. Oh, but can I let go of that control?????? Don't know. .........
