Best buys for 1-2yr old room

Hi. I'd love to know what pieces of equipment are "must haves" in a toddler room. I have been looking at Community Playthings items - love them but could maybe only afford one or two items. Any recommendations?

I once worked in a nursery where every room was given a box of community playthings wooden blocks, even the babies! I have worked with that age group for ages but at that age my own lads loved pots of varying sizes, particulary moms egg poacher, strips of fabric and digging. Not any help at all I'm guessing
