I am updating all our policies at the moment and I have always signed them. Would Ofsted frown on this? In the past they haven't but before I sign them all I wanted to check as we will be due a visit from them this year. I am the Leader and we are committee run - (which means I do everything lol)!

our chair always signs our policies - he was very thorough i will say and read ALL the policies page by page - he would then initial each page as he read and agreed it and then he signed them where appropriate. He also would ring anything like commas in the wrong place so was a very long process as i would have to update each time.

Our Chairperson signs off all the policies but two other Committee members go through them as well. I do the same as Isp and would add anything that came up to a policy and sign it and it would be signed off by the Chair at the next Committee meeting.

It should be your Chair that signs them, but there's no reason why you both shouldn't. I used to draft the policies and give them to the Chair to read and then they were circulated round any parent on the Committee who was interested. Parents were notified when they went on the website and asked to read them, and they signed to say they had, on the registration form. They werre then officaially adopted for the year at the first Committee meeting of the year, and the Chair signed them. Any amendments would be initialed in the margin as the year went on.

Out Chair signs them, but not convinced that they read them!
