AnonyMouse_19733 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 New/revised Ofsted document for safeguarding, also has a handy two page list pointing out the changes. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/inspecting-safeguarding-in-early-years-education-and-skills-from-september-2015 5
AnonyMouse_14268 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Thanks for that. Can I just ask about the need for staff behaviour policies. We have separate policies that cover code of conduct, alcohol, drugs, smoking etc. Does anyone have a staff behaviour policy that they can share with me?
AnonyMouse_30128 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 thanks pimms...big emphasis on attendance I feel! (add that to the ever increasing list!)
AnonyMouse_13453 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Thank you - duly bookmarked for perusal!
AnonyMouse_8885 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Huge sigh.... I spent hours last week updating policies/printing them off and just when you have ticked that off the TDL, out comes this! Thanks Ofsted.
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I just had quick look at the changes sheet. Does it say we need to do SLP/ designated person training every two years and all staff update safeguarding annually?
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Does someone sat in an office at Ofsted HQ think 'Hey these people don't have enough to worry about with just over a week to the start of the new school year, let's throw something else at them'. Ggggrrrrr I don't have a separate FGM policy Cait, I added a paragraph (along with prevent) to my safeguarding/CP policy, but now am wondering if it reads like a need to revert back to separate policies for safeguarding and CP and include 'accidental' bullying eg a child swipes another just because they can...not because they set out to bully the other child....(not that I can remember which part made me think that...it's so flipping long) The 2 year training and annual updates needs clarifying ( I think school leads are 2yrs already) how much more pressure will that put on everyone, it's hard enough finding local training 3 yearly, I had a couple of staff do the online Virtual college updates, which are quite good but still £30 a time + a couple of hours overtime each :-( 3
AnonyMouse_73 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I was interested in the requirement to have a designated lead on duty at all times and wondering what those of you already do, especially in day nurseries where you might have shifts each day? Do you already have more than one designated lead so that you are covered at all times or will this mean a rethink of rotas, training etc? Just curious by the way.

Just by chance this is something that we have started to do - this year my deputy has also now now been on training as 'Designated Lead' - this because I wasn't happy that the brief online training she had previously undertaken was 'sufficient'. All very useful, however, as with everything the cost is prohibitive at £100.......i.e. we have both updated this year and this has cost £200 that's a considerable amount of money for a small group like mine...... 1
AnonyMouse_51737 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 We have 3 trained and aim to have 2 on duty as much as possible, you never know what's going to come through and to have two to go through it and support each other I feel is good. However we are lucky to have excellent safeguarding training and free basic online training in our LA if it was different I might run it differently.
AnonyMouse_7120 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 We have to have a named deputy who has also attended the same training as the DSL.
AnonyMouse_64776 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 My Deputy has Lead training and is named on our Safeguarding/Child Protection Policy as being the person to take over lead in my absence.
AnonyMouse_19762 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 There's me thinking I was 'ahead of the game' ::1a
AnonyMouse_8282 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Term time preschool and we have 2 DSL. 1
