AnonyMouse_21879
Hi, Can anyone recommend a company that does those professionally printed packs of cards from the children's art work for parents to buy? Can't remember who we used last time but they were really unreliable and late and made mistakes (wrong names on cards etc.) Thanks!
AnonyMouse_5970
We stopped doing it because of mistakes and timing, it became so stressful. I wonder if we used the same company as you! Sorry, that's not very helpful!

AnonyMouse_19782
Never used them myself - one of my old friends school uses these people http://caterpillarcards.co.uk/ Have you investigated doing the whole thing yourselves, that way you would have full control. AnonyMouse_5970
Bit more comfortable here today in sunny Suffolk. Yesterday we hit 32 which is way too hot for me. We have air con in our Pre-school Room (our building used to be a gym!) and I'm really mean and don't usually put it on. But yesterday afternoon, we shut the doors and windows, half closed the blinds and put the air conditioning on. The babies and toddlers came in too and we all chilled - literally. When parents came to collect, they didn't want to leave and go out into the scorching heat again!

AnonyMouse_8282
I disagree! August is definitely the wrong time for a Christmas movie!! We have 'Christmas' in July at work.......... and sometimes in April too ::1a ::1a ::1a We have a small tree and a little box of decorations- the children love it :1b It's only out for an hour or so for the odd day though. It's really surprising how the children react - especially those with S&L difficulties.

AnonyMouse_8282
I'd say 'thanks for your help' but this conversation has really gone awry!!! Merry Christmas! Ohpps, sorry :1b We only did it for a couple of years and found it more trouble than it was worth. We found unless we actually 'did' a card and sent it home for approval we didn't get much response - and with that in mind we though we might just as well do the whole thing ourselves and cut out the middle man. That said we never got round to it. Although now things have improved so much now in the world of printing I guess it would be quite a simple (if time consuming) process. .......then again to honest sometimes it nice to just outsource things. ::1a
AnonyMouse_19782
I agree Louby Loo, but I find these types of Christmas cards are becoming more popular now - some people still do not want to spend very much on their cards at Christmas, postal rates are sky high, but there is some kind of "mummy competitiveness" with these cards their little ones have made and some of the more affluent parents are only too willing to buy them, I have certainly seen an increase in them landing on my mat - I put them all in one place like a little gallery!! AnonyMouse_6008
We've used http://www.apfs.org.uk/ - they've been ok, but the take up from parents has been so poor we're not doing it this year. To get the cards back in good time, especially to be able to post overseas, we need to get the children to do the artwrok by the end of Sept to give the order forms out and get them back to send off... The first year we did it, they had greetings in other languages for the same cost as English greetings, but since then, they've charged more for greetings in other languages. Which is I think partly why we get so little take up as 90% of our families has English as their 2nd or other language. The cards do look good and 1 time when we had some that were not as good print quality as the rest, APFS re-did them for us.

Guest
We did it once a few years ago and used minimecardco.com Quality was good and parents get the original first print to keep. It's only one man who does it though so you need to be organised and get stuff to him in plenty of time. He will also put the child's picture on the back of the card if you want, or a smaller version of the card design.
AnonyMouse_22106
We used to but also found uptake low so stopped doing it and the Tea Towels which used to be very popular.
AnonyMouse_13453
We used to start in the second half term dressing the children up as Santa's elves or little angels, 'Mary' sitting holding a doll, all posed by a Christmas tree in some gorgeous dressing up clothes we bought. We gave a low grade copy of the pic to parents and took orders, making a small profit on each one, even with our own printing. Card blanks came from Hobbycraft or somewhere. They were enormously popular.
