AnonyMouse_64776 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Just wondering if anyone has a Pre-School Staff Behaviour Policy they could share so I can get some ideas of where to start. I have looked at several school ones but they don't seem appropriate to an early years setting. I have been updating policies for the past 4 hours and my brain is going numb. Thanks in advance Gill :1b 1
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 What kind of things do you want to cover? We have 'bits' in different policies eg. Safeguarding, Behaviour Management, Mobile Phones, Employment and Code of Conduct.
AnonyMouse_14268 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 We too just have separate ones, which are; Code of conduct, smoking and alcohol, mobile phones and social networking. Then obviously parts in safeguarding and behaviour management etc.
AnonyMouse_23964 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 You may find you have already covered everything elsewhere Gillpen, or could do by adding extra sentence or two?
AnonyMouse_64776 Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 That's put my mind at rest! Yes we have all different policies which cover these things and of course in Safeguarding too. It is just another chore to try and bring all these things together. Do OFSTED imagine we are sitting twiddling our thumbs, looking for things to keep us busy? 1
AnonyMouse_55063 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Safeguarding, I would advice calling "Safeguarding - Child Protection Policy" just because the "Inspecting safeguarding in early years, education and skills settings" revise sheet August 2016 suggests this. I guess this is where you found the "Staff Behaviour Policy" idea? Although the Staff Behaviour Policy might be more geared towards Schools?? I have also been looking for one
FSFRebecca Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'm going to make a folder called 'Staff behaviour policy' - I'm going to put my policies directly relating to staff in it e.g confidentiality policy, whistle blowing, professional conduct. I'm going to 'cross reference' other policies that are also included in the safeguarding policies. It won't be a new policy in itself - it will be a new folder. I'm going to do the same for safeguarding - which will be 'child protections and safeguarding'. In fact, I think I will end up with 3 folders 1. Staff behaviour, 2. Child protection and safeguarding, 3. Teaching and Learning. I think all my policies will fall into one of those categories. I will be careful about cross referencing because obviously some things could go into more than one folder. Anyone else got any ideas? 1

When I had a reception class and didn't necessarily need separate policies to meet the requirements but had to be certain that whole school policies covered them I did something similar. I took each of the statutory requirements and referenced which whole school policy it would be covered in.

That makes sense - I think it's helpful to go through the policies anyway to make sure they are fresh in mind at the beginning of the school year. We review all our policies annually and so this will serve well for that purpose!
AnonyMouse_55063 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Found one that I have adapted slightly and added it to my number 63 spot in our P+P's booklet!! Yes it basically repeats much of the staff conduct and many other policies but it's worth having I feel with it being mentioned in the new Inspection guidance. If anybody wants to take a look or to maybe use it themselves here is the link to our recently updated P+P's - hopefully some might find them useful. Link to PDF here - Our long list of P+P's (too many maybe) 3
AnonyMouse_43806 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Here's a copy of our Staff Behaviour Policy. It makes reference to the other policies it draws on. It was done last year and is on my list to look at and review for this year. STAFF BEHAVIOUR POLICY.doc 6
AnonyMouse_19782 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Thank you for uploading your policies - it is always helpful to all of us to share this type of document 1

AnonyMouse_55063 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Thanks Cait, I was thinking the same thing when I added to website. The staff names are fine and the telephone numbers are ok to be shared. They are work mobiles and not personal contact numbers. Thank you for your concern, it is appreciated. 1
